A modern revival of the play by Joe Orton that captured the zeitgeist of the sexual revolution.
Director: Adam Cook
Writer: Joe Orton

Lighting Designer: Gavan Swift
Cast: Renato Fabretti, Sean Taylor, Jacki Weaver
In the 60s, rooms weren't the only thing for rent. Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr Sloane exposes the dark side of the 1960s sexual revolution, flinging the closet door wide open with a central character who is opportunistically bisexual and morally ambiguous. Presented by the State Theatre Company of South Australia, this is one of many revivals of the play that have occurred since its debut in 1964.
It may be Swinging 60s London, but out in the suburbs, behind closed doors, Kath is lonely. Craving love and affection, Kath and her bachelor brother Ed are more than happy to accomodate the attractive charmer Mr Sloane within their home and lives.
Both Ed and Kath become so infatuated with their shady tenant with a murky past that to win him, they will let him get away with anything, even murder... This funny, sexily subversive play retains its capacity to shock even in modern times.

- Renato Fabretti, who plays the role of Sloane, is best known for his role as Chopper Read in Underbelly.
- Entertaining Mr Sloane was Orton's first play to be staged. His other words included a screenplay, Up Against It which was commissioned by The Beatles in 1967 as a film to follow Help.
