Presented by OzAsia Festival & Adelaide Festival Centre's Pivot(al) ProgramFANTASTICALLY INSPIRED GLOBAL DANCE AND STORYTELLING. After the success of Akram Khan's intimate duet with Sylvie Guillem in Sacred Monsters we are thrilled to have Akram's company perform on the Festival Theatre stage in 2009. Originally a collaboration between the Akram Khan Company and the National Ballet of China, bahok brings together a new company of eight dancers: Chinese, Slovakian, Korean, Indian, South African and Spanish, and joins forces with long time collaborator and multi award winning composer Nitin Sawhney. The group resembles a present day version of the tale of Babel. Communicating with their bodies and voices, the group aims to create a modern day utopian community. They meet in one of this globalised world's transit zones and try to communicate, to share 'the things they dream with': their experiences, their memories of their original homes, the dreams and aspirations that made them move. They are carriers. They are bahok...an unforgettable performance..Time Out BeijingSuitable for patrons 12 years old and over
