Adelaide Festival Centre's OzAsia Festival and trans:mission program presents Into The Fire Australian Art Orchestra and Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani with guest artists Bharatanatyam dancer Rajeswari Sainath and Paul Grabowsky.

Audiences throughout India, Europe, Australia and Asia have been swept away by Into the Fire, a new musical fusion emerging from Western jazz and the classical traditions of Southern India. Paul Grabowsky, Adrian Sherriff and other members of the Australian Art Orchestra join esteemed Chennai-based Mridangam player Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani and his Sruthi Laya Ensemble in a breathtaking display of musical virtuosity. Special guest classical Bharatanatyam dancer, Rajeswari Sainath, joins the musicians on stage for the title composition complementing the shifting moods and rhythmic accents with her unique and extraordinarily expressive movements. The rhythmic intricacies and improvising practices that reside at the core of both the South Indian Carnatic tradition and Western jazz are revealed in an intoxicating blend of music, percussion and dance.
