The Marriage of Figaro

A satire of aristocracy that became one of Mozart's most famous operas

Director:

Cast:

Co-Opera takes a trip back in time to 18th century tastes and manners with an occasional tongue-in-cheek reminder of the 20th century. Co-Opera's familiar theatrical daring carries it through the plots and counterplots that lead up to the marriage of Figaro with colour and style.

For this production elegance prevails in the design, in gestures and in the glorious music of Mozart. The genius of the vocal writing and Da Ponte's words are enhanced by colourful chirps, gurgles and soaring lines from a small orchestra brought right into the sphere of the action.
