Showcasing original works from his upcoming album, as well as some classics written for the oud, Syrian oud player and composer extraordinaire Adnaan Baraky will delight with melodies from his home country. World-renowned oud master Naseer Shamma has raved of Adnaan’s technique, “[It is] original and innovative... He produces new sounds from the oud".

Adnaan is a musician and composer from Syria, who mastered playing the Oud, a fascinating Middle Eastern instrument. This show will showcase Adnaan’s unique technique on the Oud, which has been described as “original and innovative … he produced new sounds from the Oud” by World Oud master Naseer Shamma. For anyone who enjoys the sound of the Middle East, this show is definitely not to be missed.

Adnaan will soon be launching his debut album Dinaan, which is comprised of a set of Adnaan’s compositions for the Oud. These songs carry the auditory legacy of folk, traditional, classical, and modern Middle Eastern music, as well as classical and modern Western music. Each show of his three Fringe concerts will be showcasing different pieces from his upcoming album, as well as masterpieces written for the Oud by the likes of Fareed Al Atrash, Moneer Basheer and Naseer Shamma.

Adnaan will showcase different playing techniques on the Oud including traditional Syrian, Egyptian, Iraqi, and his own unique technique. He will also introduce the unique Syrian technique using solely one hand. The music he will be playing consists of a variety of genres from Sufi to Descriptive, Meditative, Glee, and Dance music. Adnaan will tell you the rest of the story on his Oud. You won’t be disappointed!
