The Perth-based Unkempt Dance collective joins emerging local talent Erin Fowler in a flurry of teabags, tools and tablecloths during the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival.Featuring the dance works Tea for Three and Keeping up with the Joneses, Teahouse is a program of physical and theatrical dance that is quirky and engaging with a flair for the unusual.Choreographed by Unkempt Dance, Tea for Three is inspired by the world’s second most prevalent beverage and its popular cultural associations. Tea for Three was first performed in Perth for the STRUT Short Cuts season and has been further developed for the Adelaide Fringe. The performance features Perth-based dancers Amy Wiseman, Carly Armstrong and Jessica Lewis, who are all graduates from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and LINK Dance Company.Keeping up with the Joneses is a physical and light-hearted exploration of how the modern woman keeps up with today’s images of perfection; the contented housewife, the fairytale relationship, the size six waist, or, the femme fatale. Choreographer, Erin Fowler, a 2010 graduate from the Adelaide College of the Arts is joined in the performance by fellow 2010 graduates Jessie Oshodi and Mikaila Roe.Choreographer Katrina Lazaroff has been mentoring Erin in the lead up to Teahouse, as part of the national youth mentoring program JUMP (facilitated in South Australia by Carclew Youth Arts).
