Oct 20th, 2009 : Leigh Warren and Dancers Head to Holland ShoGo

South Australia’s Leigh Warren & Dancers will share the bill with some of the world’s foremost dance companies this November when they perform their critically acclaimed production Impulse at the esteemed Holland Dance Festival (28 Oct - 15 Nov)  

Teaming up with innovative SA string ensemble Zephyr Quartet, Leigh Warren & Dancers will present two performances of Impulse. Comprising two dance works (Impulse & Shimmer), the production combines live movement and music with cutting-edge visual technology. 

 

 

 

Oct 15th, 2009 : ShoGo officially launched today ShoGo

It was purple cupcakes and balloons all the way as Minister John Hill, Minister Assisting the Premier in the Arts, officially launched the ShoGo website.

Minister Hill praised the State’s performance arts community. “Our performance companies are really making their mark, not just in South Australia, but nationally and internationally.  ShoGo is another way these companies can connect with new audiences and thereby encourage greater participation in the performing arts”, he said.

Oct 6th, 2009 : Opening of the Thomas Edmonds Opera Studio Co-Opera

On Saturday 8th May, Co-Opera honoured one of its patrons, the eminent Thomas Edmonds at a sold out performance of The Magic Flute when the former Wool Hall at the Adelaide Showground was renamed the Thomas Edmonds Opera Studio.

Minister Assisting the Premier in the Arts, John Hill MP, on behalf of Premier Mike Rann, officially named the Studio in a most entertaining speech.  Thomas Edmonds responded and spoke of his delight that Co-Opera had a rehearsal base at the Adelaide Showground.  He entertained the audience with many amusing anecdotes of dodgy rehearsal venues in his long career.

The generosity and great support of the Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society was recognised.

Oct 5th, 2009 : five.point.one receives funding Bakehouse Theatre

five.point.one recieves Helpmann grant

 

five.point.one has been awarded the $5000 project assistance grant for their upcoming production - the Australian premiere of Edward Bond's 'The Under Room'.  'The Under Room' will premiere this November at The Bakehouse Theatre and will feature ensemble members Kate Roxby and Brad Williams - they will be joined on-stage by Brendan Rock.

five.point.one gratefully acknowledges the on-going support of the Helpmann Academy.

Oct 1st, 2009 : Patch wins awards! ShoGo

In September Patch theatre company won the 2009 Ruby award for Sustained contribution (organisation) and two Drovers awards, one for Best Tour (2008) for Emily loves to bounce and Outstanding touring production crew (2008). The Drovers are awarded by the Australian Performing Arts Centres Association.                                                 

Oct 1st, 2009 : Slingsby wins 2 awards! ShoGo

In the last month Slingsby has won two awards for the The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy. They were awarded  the  2009 Ruby Award in the Leadership in Arts Enterprise category for the 2009 World Tour of The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy and the AWGIE Award for Best Children’s Play – The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy by Finegan Kruckemeyer, conceived by Andy Packer.

 

Oct 1st, 2009 : Co-Opera Inc - Winner of Export Award Co-Opera

Co-Opera performers, staff and friends enjoyed a lunch at the National Wine Centre on Wednesday 21 October where it was announced that the Company was the winner of the Arts and Entertainment category of the SA Business Export Awards.  The ceremony, MC'd by Jane Doyle, was attended by the Premier, the Hon Mike Rann, the Deputy Premier, Kevin Foley and the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Michael Harbison.   Congratulations to Co-Opera.
