Based in Port Adelaide, in the historic Waterside Workers Hall, Vitalstatistix Theatre Company was founded in 1984 by three visionary women. For 25 years, Vitals has created, produced and toured a vast body of award winning, contemporary Australian work.
Combining the strengths of the past with current directions in theatre, Vitals embarks on the next 25 years with creative collaboration at the core of its aim to present an annual program of works reflecting contemporary issues and imagination.
Continually evolving programs include:
INCUBATOR residencies which provide tangible support, including a venue and mentoring, for artists to experiment, explore and develop concepts, through to a finished performance work.
Productions of commissioned works, intra and interstate tours and mini makers' festivals which provide a platform for writers and artists from emerging to mid-career.
Mentorship programs which encourage and build skills for artists and other theatre workers.
Continuation of Vitals’ long tradition of community-based, professionally developed, arts projects.

The best things in life are second hand bargains…
Vitalstatistix Theatre Company knows how to put smiles on dials in the depths of winter, and The Vitals Book, Zine and Crafty Affair is an event full of everything one could want on a chilly Sunday. A mountain of second hand books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, cool art and craft stalls, a gourmet sausage sizzle, great coffee, cakes and a flowing bar in the beautiful, heritage listed Waterside Workers Hall in Port Adelaide
Vitals has collected so many books this year that books will be replenished at midday so that the early risers aren’t the only ones who get first dibs on some absolutely spiffing things: from Stephen King to Margaret Atwood, cookery books to encyclopaedias of music, and lets not forget the dozens of magazines, comics, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records (Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison anyone?) up for grabs.
This year, Vitals will also welcome writer Clementine Ford to the book fair, who’ll be selling a ‘straight-from-the-top-of-her-dome’ haiku on the topic of their choice. Got someone’s birthday coming up and don’t know what to get them? Want to impress a love interest but are poetically challenged? Come on down to the book fair and buy them a haiku.
It’s all for a good cause too. The book fair is Vitalstatistix Theatre Company’s biggest fundraiser of the year and money raised will go towards the development and presentation of new work. And remember - to keep our planet happy, please bring your own bags.
